Bones in the hand & skull

Drawing hands are difficult enough, I try to break them down into shapes, like two triangles together or you could sketch a diamond shape, one point being the tapering of fingers, the other going into the wrist. Studying the bone structure helps too, but I suppose the best way is practice....every day! I know, the skull is too small to go with this hand, just practicing.

These are from Christmas break. I found some old photos of a cat on a bed, trying to play around with creating image from shine marks on bed posts & negative space because the paper is already black.

Skin tone has been challenging & it doesn't seem to be so hard when using watercolors or oils for me, or maybe it's just stress. Not posting til I'm finished. i need a nap!

Heart of the dress

I found this old photo in an antique shop somewhere & I love vintage photography. Years later I decided to do a watercolor of this girl in her nice white dress, big bows in her hair. When I was sketching her on the large watercolor paper, I was wondering where the dress was, since it was probably still around & then I was thinking about how a part of this girl might still be in the dress. I still need to work on it, darken the sleeves so they look like they are behind her back more.

Abstract Art

April is half over! March was a windy, stormy month for me. (Lots of good & bad, sort of at the same time...)
 I want to sell this abstract, although, I do like it every time I look at it. It's one of those colorwheel projects for class. This is a big canvas -30" by 42", something like that. I don't usually paint this large unless I'm doing a mural.
Anyone with wall space, who needs some blues with hints of oranges, I'm letting this one go for, ....$375ish.
(I have to consider my time & toil. lol) There is no right way to look at it, so this can be displayed horizontally or vertically. The camera glare doesn't help much, it seems more vibrant when I look at it & there are no white areas. (I need a new camera  & to get better at Photoshop-lol).

If I don't sell, I'll find someplace for this beast!

it's nice to have a whole weekend off, but I have tons of homework. Working on my new vector drawing.

This sketch is from a photo I lost-I was two & coming out of the hospital after cleft pallet surgery. Someone gave me (clip-on) earrings.

I like having the complimentary colors.

Finished some more sketches from photos today. Almost done with book, then onto promoting more business related art.

Today is the 17th already. I'm trying to draw everyday & found many art blogs.  Two pages from sketchbook that I drew last week. I was thinking of DNA & started drawing a picture of my Grandfather, henry Michel, when he was a child.

I liked how it turned out & the other page is from watching a movie about Alberto Giacometti.

It's 1-11..

It's 1-11, a little after 11p.m. did some more drawing today. drawing bones & bought some "Super 77".
This stuff is supposed to make anything stick.....Forever!
Not looking forward to inhaling the fumes though.
Just got a little can, very expensive!

Speaking of sticky-here are two pages, but they are backwards!

Another busy day.

Starting an art blog....

I decided that in the New Year, I would create an art blog, so here it is. I had no idea what I was doing at first & am still learning, so I will be posting lots of art.
This piece is from my illustration class last semester. I found out how much I love character design.
Now, if I can just figure out text wrapping on this thing. More tomorrow-I don't really like to make resolutions, but I want to commit to posting on my blog at least three times a week.

This blog will push me to be creative everyday.
